Francisco Javier: "I will be the PLD's presidential candidate in 2028."

The presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party ( PLD ), Francisco Javier García , criticized the deterioration of the public health system under the management of the PRM government , noting that "public hospitals today have become a true house of terror for thousands of Dominicans."
"The problem isn't in the health sector, but in those who lead the country. This PRM government has put the country in reverse and turned it into a state of decline," Francisco Javier García, presidential candidate .
During a meeting with health leaders and professionals, García reaffirmed his firm decision to run for the PLD presidential nomination .
"I have no doubt that I will be the candidate, but I am even more certain that I will be the next president of the Dominican Republic," he stated.
Denounces the situation of the health systemThe political leader denounced that "the Dominican healthcare system has been taken to intensive care . Anyone who wants to know the state of a public hospital today need only walk in and see a panorama of neglect, precariousness, and hopelessness."
"The problem isn't in the health sector , but in those who lead the country. This PRM government has put the country in reverse and turned into a setback what we, the PLD , built for years with investment, planning, and a vision for the future," he emphasized.
García said that, during the PLD governments, the health sector experienced a period of significant progress , with a deep investment in infrastructure , equipment and human resources.
He stated that "everything that has been achieved must be recovered . This is a government that promises but fails to deliver, that falsifies statistics, and that ignores the tragedy people experience when they go to the hospital."
"I'm running for President of the Republic because I'm clear that if it's not to leave a significant mark on the country, I'd rather not run. And one of the main challenges we face is restoring dignity and quality to the healthcare system . Anyone who isn't healthy is a candidate for death," he said.
García also announced that this is just the first of many activities he will undertake across the country , listening to healthcare professionals and learning firsthand about the conditions in each province and municipality.
"I would like us to work together on a complete diagnosis of the health system and make it known to the Dominican people. This is everyone's commitment , and those who help me diagnose the situation will also help me resolve it," he said.
He reaffirmed that his candidacy represents a collective project .
"You are the ones I trust. And together we will transform this country. But the first thing we must do is remove the PRM from power so we can truly address the deep problems facing the Dominican Republic. And we will not stop working on that," he concluded.
The conversationDuring the discussion, the doctors agreed that the healthcare system is collapsing.
"There are children dying due to lack of care. We have repeatedly raised the need to establish a genuine primary care system, but the government has done nothing," they said.
On the other hand, representing the nursing profession, Orfelina Fernández denounced that "although nurses are a key component of the healthcare system , unfortunately, the current government has ignored and forgotten us ."
"We need more support. This government promised us things it didn't deliver. We're tired of promises. We're here because we want to hear from Francisco Javier, because we already consider him the next president of the Dominican Republic in 2028," she said.
The meeting was attended by more than 100 health professionals and technicians , including Dr. Luz Herrera, former president of the Pediatrics Association; Dr. Rafael González , head of the PLD 's Health Secretariat and member of the Central Committee; Dr. Enriquillo Matos, former president of the Dominican Medical Association; Dr. Joselyn Sánchez; and Dr. Adolfo Rodríguez, former president of the Dominican Dental Association.
